There are some actors and actresses that, for me, ruin every movie they’re in. I don’t know what it is about them—it may be that they’re bad actors and actresses or perhaps there’s some other, deep-rooted reason—but every second they are on screen drives me insane.
The first I can think of is Shia LeBoeuf. He was horrible in Transformers and I cringed so much when he showed up in Indy Jones. There’s talk of him making a movie about the rapper Cage. If this happens I will probably jump up and down like a mad man.
Next up is Amanda Bynes, who as a child star I didn’t mind, but then she killed any attractiveness she might have had when she did She’s the Man and now she just has this really annoying face. If she were attractive then it would perhaps go some way to make up for her complete lack of talent, but after seeing her pretend to be a boy, I just have any positive feelings towards her. Yuck.
I guess I should do three, so how about Ashton Kutcher? Enough said.

As for hating actors / actresses, often when I’ve finally built up a hatred for one they manage to hit a home-run.
Sometimes it’s a slight resemblance to a person you didn’t like in schoool, or whatever. It’s unfathomable.
Throughout the Eighties I hated Anthony Hopkins. Then I saw “Silence of the Lambs”... now I love the guy.
I had a slight dislike for Michelle Pfeiffer: Then I saw “Batman Returns”... wow!
(It can happen the other way too: I saw “Dangerous Minds” and had a total reversal. Brrrrr…)
Recently, I had built up a serious dislike of Simon Yam. Then I saw “Election”... now I love the guy.
Funny, I still dislike Anthony Hopkins - A Lot. Albeit there are batshiat crazy moments in there, including his hilarious voice-acting in Beowulf and FreeJack. But then there is his very solid turns in Elephant Man and highly underrated THE EDGE. I cannot think of a single more overrated film than SILENCE OF THE LAMBS, which piggy backs mainly on Hopkins over-the-top idiocy and doesn’t give enough time to the much creepier Buffalo Bill.
Actors who generally do little for me are Mel Gibson, Richard Harris and Audrey Hepburn.
I somewhat second the disdain of The Beouf, but that is more along the lines of the films he chooses to be in rather than his lack of acting ability or star charisma. He has a presence on screen which belies a lot of the shit he happens to be in.
On a more positive note, The most underrated actor of all time = Jeff Bridges. Jamie Bell is aiming to be the modern version of awesome but not used enough, and it is good to see Sam Rockwell knocking things out of the park in Moon.
If you talked to be 4 years ago, I’d have said Penelope Cruz, but she has been all kinds of awesome lately. Now I look forward to whatever she happens to be in.
Also, I’d say Robin Williams is pretty hated in my circles, but every now again he’ll do a Death to Smoochy, Insomnia or One Hour Photo and things will be pretty swell.

What? You didn’t get the “Clerks” reference? I seriously can’t (and don’t want to) remember the guy’s name ... or the name of the movie but it won a bunch of academy awards about ten years ago. A foreign-ish kind of film.
can’t stand him! he’s always so self-conscious and smug on camera. i cant understand why he’s so acclaimed. bad actor through and through. and to appear in so many Tony Scott movies, well ...
Gosh, I consider myself somewhat of a professional hate stylist and yet I find myself at a loss to contribute very much here. And I don’t want to harsh the negative vibe by agreeing with Kurt re: Jeff Bridges. The guy actually starred in a REMAKE and soared!
But I do truly hate that one guy who was in that one movie, ya know, about love.

Smoochy! God, I love that movie and have never understood the hate it got ... that’s probably the funniest thing Williams has ever done.
