I see that Artificial Eye has just released Sorrentino’s “Il Divo” over the weekend, so I’d expect a beautiful-looking DVD from the UK by the fall. Am I mistaken, or does Artificial Eye not have any Blu rays in their portfolio? I’m guessing I’ll have a Blu ray player by then…
It’s out in cinemas in the Netherlands as well. I’m waiting for a BluRay which has the same excellent set of extras that the Italian 2-disc (and English-friendly!) DVD has…

At present Hidden, Zatoichi, Lou Reed’s Berlin, Ashes of Time Redux and Chungking Express are their only Blu releases, though I do expect more WKW releases in the near future. Oh and Waltz With Bashir is out next Monday.
One of the best anti-war films I’ve ever seen, Masaki Kobayashi’s (Kwaidan) phenomenal The Human Condition (1959) is being released at last, on July 14, by Criterion.
Henrik Ruben Genz’s Frygtelig lykkelig (Terribly Happy) is slated for release on DVD on May 5th. Price is a little steep—199 kr (about 35 USD)—and no word as yet about English subtitles. I really wanted to catch this one at last year’s PIFF, but it conflicted with my work schedule. http://www.laserdisken.dk/html/visvare.dna?vare=1235130374438225
So does anyone know what went down with the Ong Bak 2 HK DVD release? Seems to have ghosted out of all sites.
I still see it at Yesasia, but lo-and-behold: No English Subs! That’s almost unheard of for Hong Kong, where English still is one of the three main languages (and will be till 2046…).
Maybe the other sites ditched it to prevent angry customers?

Didn’t the same thing happen with Chocolate last year when Magnet picked it up for US distribution?

For those who haven’t already picked up the English-subtitled Italian DVD of Il Divo, Artificial Eye will be releasing Paolo Sorrentino’s magnificent bio-pic July 27th.
The film contains the following special features: The making of Il Divo, Additional Interviews with director Paolo Sorrentino, Special effects featurette, Deleted scenes, and Theatrical trailer.
Since Artificial Eye hasn’t seen fit to release this movie on Blu ray, it looks as though the only hope for an English-subtitled release in high-definition rests with the MPI Media Group—maybe this fall.
This fall, Sony will be releasing Blu rays of my favorite films by directors Doug Liman and Paul Thomas Anderson. Go will be on retailers’ shelves on August 18, and Punch Drunk Love on September 15.
One of my most anticipated Korean indie films (what ever happened to Hong Sang-soo’s Night and Day??), Daytime Drinking will be released by May 30th, and is available for pre-order at YesAsia. Here’s a review from Variety
