I haven’t seen this reported anywhere else, but thanks to a tip from one of our readers, I learned that Matteo Garrone’s film was imbued with more realism than I imagined.
She writes, “They have now busted the third actor/mafiosi from this movie in Naples for collection protection money: Giovanni Venosa (http://www.spiegel.de/fotostrecke/fotostrecke-38579-6.html#backToArticle=600203).
Actors/mafiosi Salvatore Fabbricino and Bernadino Terracciano (http://www.spiegel.de/fotostrecke/fotostrecke-38579-7.html#backToArticle=600203) already went to jail last October.”
With all the interest Gomorrah has generated (which this latest news will probably only increase), my only concern is that last year’s real discovery, Il Divo, which still has no North American release date on video, will be overlooked. Both films are available with English subtitles (with excellent transfers) from IBS in Italy.
