One of my favorite comedians is Tracy Ullman. She is so funny. I loved watching her show on Showtime Tracy Ullman’s State Of The Union. That show was so funny. I just bought the first season on dvd this week and have been watching it with all of my friends. Have any of you seen the show? If not, you should definitely check out a scene at http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-3392077115756815243. Its great. Tell me if you like it.

I agree she’s awesome. I love Tina Fey, too.

Christine Baranski, Lily Tomlin, Catherine O’Hara and Caroll Burnette.

Frances McDormand, Julianne Moore and Jamie Lee Curtis can be very, very funny too when they isn’t in more serious roles.

All those women are great, but apart from Sarah Silverman who doesn’t always do it for me, I can’t think of another really strong, contemporary comediene which is a shame.

Maria Bamford is pretty damn funny, methinks.
Amy Sedaris can crack me up just by sitting down and tilting her head. I don’t know what it is about that woman.

Sarah Silverman almost always does it for me. Her standup is much funnier than her episodic show.

Cho is a complete waste of space these days, unfortunately.

I think the problem is that most women who have real comedic gifts shy away from the stand up format and are just content to write material for others to perform. Or maybe they aren’t CONTENT to, but if they don’t look a certain way, they get pushed behind the curtain by producers.
