I tried the Heavy Rain demo a few nights ago and must say it’s all looking pretty intriguing. A few Japanese friends on PSN have told me they pretty much hate the new Final Fantsay - because it’s not Final Fantasy. I loved Assassin’s Creed 2 but right now I’m kinda stuck on Modern Warfare 2 and to a lesser extent, Bayonetta.

Yeah, everyone here is hitting FFXIII pretty hard.
From what I’ve seen and been told…if you liked FFX then you’ll like this one.
The linear aspect bums the hell outta me though - but it’s FF which means that I wanna give it a go come March [my Japanese is nowhere near good enough to play through an FF yet dammit].

I played Farenheit years back and it was really interesting despite the Matrix lovefest that was the last hour, so Heavy Rain seems possible. Strange that Japan gets it first.

Personal opinion is more than welcomed.
As long as each game plays well and is bug free, then that counts for alot in my book.

Btw…why did Silent Hill Homecoming have to be so…meh?
It’s like a knife in the heart! After Resi 4 and 5…to go to this…damn.

I’d like to play Castlevania : Symphony of the Night once more… but I could not find where to buy anymore…

Right now I’m still addicted to L4D2..yah I know it’s quite a while now..but still, expert modes are so hard to beat.

I also picked up ME2 recently. Still in the wrapper but hoping to check it out tomorrow. Also just recently finished Bayonetta. What a batshit crazy game that was but it was still a lot of fun. Tried out the demo for PB Winterbottom as well, great visual style and the theme song fits perfectly. Interesting puzzle mechanics too.

God help me… Steam had the “King’s Bounty” games on sale and I bought them (primarily because the second one features an anaglyph 3D-mode that works surprisingly well…).

And now I’m hooked!
I cannot believe it… an old-style turn based RPG. It feels like I’m playing “Wizardry” twenty years ago, all over again. Just much slicker and much, MUCH nicer looking.

I’ve heard a lot of good things about the King’s Bounty games. Suppose to be really addictive. If I ever get back into PC gaming I might look into them.

I suppose everyone pretty much blames the developers and their lack of Japanese-ness.Personally I think if Konami really did come to the point of apparent exhaustion where the mythos of Silent Hill was concerned, it’s just as well they handed over the reigns to Western developers instead of shambling on ahead and making things worse. The Room had some of the best themes and ideas of the series in my opinion but it was such a sloppy game overall I couldn’t hlp feeling it was only going to go from that to…well Homecoming.

I shelled out a regrettable amount of coin for the PS3 port of Deadly Premonition there last week. The low budget affair was going for $20 on day one of release and yet because only Japan had the port (renamed Red Seed Profile) I had to pay thrice that to get a copy. The good news however is that the game is a riot, something of a poke at Heavy Rain although altogether more straight up bizarre and reminiscent of Twin Peaks. What other game can you drive around referencing imdb facts with your split personality? If you’ve got a 360 and $20 to spare do check it out.

Also looking forward to God of War 3 in the coming weeks.

A few weeks (!) into King’s Bounty, the game hasn’t become any less addictive. Having spent lots of time on what appear to be sidequests, I finally happened upon the main thing itself and unlocked a “Chest of Immense Powerzzzz”! Took me a while to figure out how to use it, but suddenly I have a gallery of angry spirits helping me with the battles, not unlike all those huge elementals in Final Fantasy.

In fact, I can now do so much misschief in fights that I’m able to tackle enemies far bigger than myself. Although the quests do start to become a bit same-as, same-as, the odd additions keep things fresh. Getting married was a surprise, a nice one, since all magical clothes your wife wears add their benefits to you as well (so you can now for example wear two magical helmets at the same time). Babies are even funnier, each adding a huge bonus to your powers! I’m building up quite a family as a way of asset management…

Couldn’t resist the $39.99 price for Bad Company 2 so went ahead and ordered it from Amazon. Definitely need to play some more ME2.

Steam had “Red Faction: Guerilla” on a heavy discount so I tried it. I mean, sometimes I just want to blow shit up good without having to think too much.
And wow, so far the game delivers on its promise. It celebrates and even rewards practicing the art of destruction: you can blow up every man- or machine-made artifice and the game fully encourages you to do so. The more you go on a rampage the better weapons you get! Not that you truly need them but hey… it’s fun.

Case in point: I’ve tried chopping down a huge tower with just a sledgehammer, the way you’d down a tree, to see how accurate the physics engine was. And although the building was sturdier than felt right (at the end I had completely hollowed out its base and it was standing on only a few sheer pieces of wall) it DID topple and in the right direction too, right on top of my car which I had conveniently parked in the wrong spot.

Very satisfying!
Maybe it’s a ho-hum sandboxer, but so far I’m enjoying myself and being a total dick to the enemy. cheese
