Some cheap bargains:

“I Sell the Dead”

“Alone” - Brit psycho flick

“Let the Right One In” - Better be at least half as good as the gushing love says it is.

“Anatomy of a Murder” - Mad German director, James Stewart, George C Scott and a young Lee Remick’s panties.  Lovely.

And:

“30 Rock” - Season 2

“Empire” - (Hispanic gangster drama)

“Dogs of War” - (Average fare, but it was super cheap and it’s The Walken)

“Rats: Nights of Terror”

“This Hollow Sacrament” - (This R1 ‘Unearthed Films’ DVD turned up in a local market,  cheap.  Indy nastiness)

“Flick” - A zombie/Supernatural horror film with 50’s Rock ‘n’ Roll aspects…...From Wales!

“Brannigan” - Upgrade from DVD-R for this old John Wayne fave.

“Frogs” - Classic 70’s, Drive-In, bizarro campiness.

“Blood Shack” - Ray Dennis ‘oh crap’ Steckler atrocity.

“The Killing Machine” (aka “Icarus”) - Dolph Lundgren’s latest starrer/direction effort.  Should be a winner.

“Centurion” - Marshall’s latest.  Good cast, blood ‘n’ thunder and Roman sorts.  Should be a winner also.

“Resurrection County” - No idea, looked fun and was cheap.  Psychotic Southern nut jobs abuse city slickers.

“Piranha” - ‘Shout Factory’ - Groovy 3D cover.

“Humanoids from the Deep” - ‘Shout Factory’ - At last.  Finally I get to see that decapitation too.

Picked up some new Blu-Ray:

“Repo Men”

“Terminator 2”- Skynet Edition.

“Who Dares Wins”  _ fucking love this classic.  Lewis Collins is the man.

Sadly the new Blu transfer looks no different from the new SD DVD transfer that is also in the package.
Sound, although still mono, is nice and punchy though.
Oh well, it’s better than my old DVD version at least.

“Robocop” (2nd hand)

Going to put my old ‘Criterion’ DVD into ‘collectable storage’...

Improvement over that (although the director’s preferred ratio) non-anamorphic transfer obviously, but it looks no more than a nice SD DVD to my eyes.
No real ‘depth’ to the picture sadly.

Oh well, still an up-grade from the ‘Criterion’ and it only cost me 50p cash after using my exchange voucher…but probably no different from the later SD DVD releases.

Naughty, naughty upgrades to Blu-Ray again!
This is worse than when I moved from VHS to DVD!!

“Casino” - Very nice upgrade in picture detail even when compared to the SE DVD, for Scorsese’s grossly underrated masterpiece.

“Black Rain” - Love this gem of an action film.
Again a pretty good upgrade in picture detail and some added depth in certain shots.  Good audio too that does Zimmer’s superb score proud.

“Beowulf” - Looks gorgeous with bags of detail (although the DVD was pretty nice) and this is the much ballsier ‘Director’s Cut’ too.

New Blu’s.  More damn upgrades.  Naughty.

“Psycho” - 50th Anniversary, tin, release.  Excellent transfer and sound.

“X Men - Trilogy” - Certainly a sharper picture/better sound than SD, but not amazingly different.

“Inglourious Basterds” - Limited Edition.  Sharper picture and vastly better looking ‘chapter’ card and subtitle lettering then SD DVD.

“Poltergeist” - Certainly a crisper more vibrant transfer, but the same old inane crap ‘ghosts may be real you know’ extras as the SD DVD though
