Watched it over Netflix streaming. Some fun dialogue but overall it didn’t leave me with much.
Is this the Colin Firth / Ruprett Everett one? They both have a talent for delivering Wilde’s wordplay. There are quite a few pleasures in that film, Everett stealing the show more often than not.

Yeah, that’s the one and Everett did steal the show but Firth was fine as well.
Just finished watching Johnnie To’s Exiled in HD on Netflix streaming with my buddy Victor, his first viewing. Definite podcast material.
“Exiled” introduced me to the recent Johnnie To output, and after checking out the other films he did that year (“Election” and “Election 2”) I now consider him to be one of the best directors alive today. What a triple whammy of films that was!
Just saw “The Signal,” which had a pretty interesting execution. The shifts in tone and style worked wonders for me! Rewatched “Mulholland Dr.” and might watch it again at a double-feature screening this week with “Fire Walk With Me.”

Yeah, he’s definitely one of my favorite HK directors. I really liked his earlier output as well. Where a Good Man Goes, The Mission, Running Out of Time, and PTU were all quite good.
Watched Sion Sono’s Hair Extensions this weekend.
It makes you wonder whether he needed the story of an aunt taking care of her abused niece to better the horror parody bits or vice versa. Still a good combination.
Saw Applause with Paprika Steen a few weeks ago, she’s incredible and the Super 16mm looked aesthetically charming.
Also saw Paper Man with Jeff Daniels. It was, er, good, I guess, yeah it was pretty decent with some barely forgivable cheese necessary for marketing.
Van Dieman’s Land was really good. I think that director with the 1000 letter name, auf der meife or something,
is going to do some awesome shite eventually.
A Town Called Panic! chewed up my guts. Really good and detailed.
Paintball sort of blew my mind the other day. Movie is so fucking raw. Kind of surprised by how great it was.
Bloody heart was pumping a lot.
Chaw was good, but didn’t leave a big impact on me.
Shinjuku Incident, unholy hell was amazing. Very satisfied with the thick character development and embraced it’s cliches though they were few and far between. Sterotypes and cliches are born from fact and truth and those are still the most influential realities of life.
One of the more underrated titles from John Carpenter IMO. Definitely dug the mixture of science and religion although I wish they could have taken it a bit further. I also liked the slow build up of tension. Could have had a more climactic ending but still enjoyed it overall.
Avatar. And now I’ll tell you why. Visually is was beautifully done. But it stole
SO many plots from SO many movies it was awful. I couldn’t help but laugh at all
the plot steals I watched during that movie. I’m surprised I haven’t heard the same
from other movie fans.
