A few years back… about 2008… I remember reading here about a movie… not U.S. and not Asian… about a man who ends up becoming imprisoned by some people in a house he has come to stay at. Not an overt horror movie… it was something more subtle and strange. At the time the description vaguely reminded me of ‘The Tenant’... the imprisoned man seemed to have issues of his own.
For some reason I think this might be an Australian or Dutch film.
I know that’s a very vague description… but any suggestions as to what it might be?

That might be the Belgian film “Calvaire” (“The Ordeal”) by Fabrice Du Welz, the director of “Vinyan”, although that is from 2004…

Looked that up on IMDB and yep, that’s it!
